I don’t know about you, but I can’t open my phone at the moment without some young whipper-snapper telling me how to lose weight and get fit…
Some little wet behind-the-years young lad popping up to advise me on what constitutes a balanced diet…
And, despite the fact that we were following diet plans when this boy’s arse was as big as a shirt button…
We begin to get taken in by whatever claptrap he is pedalling!
Why? Because we are lured in by shiny object syndrome…
The promise of something new which might, just might, have all the answers.
YOU ALREADY KNOW THE FECKIN ANSWERS…
You were there when they wrote the book.
You know precisely what to do and how to do it.
…So why isn’t it working?
As we hit and pass 40, everything slows down…
But then you knew that already…
It’s not that the diet you’re on doesn’t work.
It’s that you’re not on it long enough and consistently enough to see the changes.
If you’re anything like most of the women I work with, you’ll feel like your body is unfamiliar territory at the moment.
Losing weight seems to be harder now than it used to. Hell, even getting out of bed seems to involve a lot of rolling around and grunting 🤣
I’m sure it wasn’t quite like that in my 20s….
So look: Be consistent and patient…
I know, not easy on your own with no support, that’s why I’m reaching out to you…
But more than that…
Be a little kinder to yourself. Be a bit gentler with how you speak to yourself. You’ve got more going on these days than at any other time in your life.
Your body’s managing all that too.
Take care of her.
