It’s not realistic to cycle through periods of extreme restriction. Your body is telling you that exact message every time you go “off plan” with your diet.

I always advise batch cooking and refrigerating or freezing to have meals on hand for 3 days in advance. Each menu provides prep time and cook time for each meal, so you know in advance of preparation.
Absolutely, there is something for everyone in these books. Mix and match meals based on the ones you like. Research actually proves that keeping food choices simple can actually improve long term dietary adherence.
